Freeman was immediately taken to a hospital in nearby Memphis by helicopter. A representative of the Regional Medical Center in Memphis said the actor is in serious condition.
However, Freeman was able to speak after the crash. Several sources say the actor even joked with bystanders trying to take his photograph on their mobile phones as he was pulled out of the vehicle.
