What is a boil?
A boil, also referred to as a skin abscess, is a localized infection deep in the skin. A boil generally starts as a reddened, tender area. Over time, the area becomes firm and hard. Eventually, the center of the abscess softens and becomes filled with infection-fighting white blood cells that the body sends from the bloodstream to eradicate the infection. This collection of white blood cells, bacteria, and proteins is known as pus. Finally, the pus "forms a head," which can be surgically opened or spontaneously drain out through the surface of the skin.
There are several different types of boils. Among these are:
Furuncle or carbuncle: This is an abscess in the skin caused by the bacterium Staphylococcus aureus. A furuncle can have one or more openings onto the skin and may be associated with a fever or chills.
Cystic acne: This is a type of abscess that is formed when oil ducts become clogged and infected. Cystic acne affects deeper skin tissue that the more superficial inflammation from common acne. Cystic acne is most common on the face and typically occurs in the teenage years.
Hidradenitis suppurativa: This is a condition in which there are multiple abscesses that form under the armpits and often in the groin area. These areas are a result of local inflammation of the sweat glands. This form of skin infection is difficult to treat with antibiotics alone and typically requires a surgical procedure to remove the involved sweat glands in order to stop the skin inflammation.
Pilonidal cyst: This is a unique kind of abscess that occurs in the crease of the buttocks. Pilonidal cysts often begin as tiny areas of infection in the base of the area of skin from which hair grows (the hair follicle). With irritation from direct pressure, over time the inflamed area enlarges to become a firm, painful, tender nodule making it difficult to sit without discomfort. These frequently form after long trips that involve prolonged sitting.
Why do boils occur?
There are many causes of boils. Some boils can be caused by an ingrown hair. Others can form as the result of a splinter or other foreign material that has become lodged in the skin. Others boils, such as those of acne, are caused by plugged sweat glands that become infected.
The skin is an essential part of our immune defense against materials and microbes that are foreign to our body. Any break in the skin, such as a cut or scrape, can develop into an abscess should it then become infected with bacteria.
These are a couple of cures that I know to work.
Ingredients: i use to use a product called boil ease but now they have changed the ingredients and it is now only for pain but does not draw out the infection. When I questioned my local pharmacy they suggested campho phenique W.O.W. does it work in an instance and it draws everything out. Gos I wish I had know this years ago
Instructions: Apply liberally to affected area at bed time and it will be busted by the morning
EDIENTS: Hunt's tomato paste boil cure. cover the boil with Hunt's tomato paste as a compress. The acids from the tomatoes soothes the pain
and bring the boil to a head.
INGREDIENTS: Ice CubesINSTRUCTIONS: When you notice that you have a boil coming up apply an ice cube to the area till it melts. Do this four to five times a day till the boil is gone. Boils and the bacteria that cause them have to have heat to thrive and grow. Take away their heat and they die. It will feel like something's crawling in the boil, kinda weird but it works. I had MASSIVE boils all over my body for betterthan six months. I went to the doctor and the emergency room but they kept coming back. Antibiotics(3 different kinds), hot compresses, neosporin, poutices, pastes; none of them worked. I read about the ice cube in a very old remedy book and as a last ditch effort decided to try it.Within two days the boils shrank and were gone. Now every time I start to get a skin eruption, no matter what it is I apply some ice and it's gone.
Ingredients: BananaInstructions: Peel a banana (a ripe banana works best). Place banana peel on boil and leave it there for as long as you can. Good to do when you go to bed at night as the banana peel will stay in place longer. When you wake up in the morning your boil will have drained on its own.
Ingredients: onion or potatoInstructions: cut little slivers of either one and apply to the affected boil and cover change 4 times a day. it will bring it to a head and get all of the goop out it works wonders. oh and it also helps with the pain.
Ingredients: 1 egg,band-aidInstructions: crack open and dicard contents of egg, then take thin white layer of inside shell and place over boil opening(head)then put on bandage overnight.when you wake up take off bandage and the core of the boil come out then will ooze all contents.
Ingredients: a nice juicy tomatoInstructions: cut a thick slice of a juicy tomato and place it on the area where the boil is and use a tape of some sort to hold the tomato in place and leave it on for about a day and believe me when i say the boil will come to a head and burst. you want a pain full boil to do just that . i know that it might sound silly but i was in lots of pain with a huge boil on my inner thigh and it was told to me and you know what in less than 24 hours it popped. what makes it work is the acids in the tomato. my boil was BAD, thank heavens for that tomato lol....try it and see!
For boils, soak a tea bag in very hot water. When it's just barely cool enough to tolerate, place the tea bag on the boil and leave it there until it cools. Repeat this a few times a day until the boil comes to a head and then wash the boil very well with antibacterial soap, open the boil with a sterile needle and drain it. The tanic acid in the tea bag will help the boil to come to a head.
